RUGBY:
GRASSCROFT’S Liam Parfitt has signed a two-year deal with the Sale Sharks academy after switching codes.
The 16-year-old flanker spent three years at Warrington Wolves, but rejected a paid deal at the club in favour of a move to Sale.
It comes months after his first England RU under-17s call. He played against the USA, Canada and Germany in a festival in London.
“Liam is so dedicated to the sport, he actually left our family holiday in Egypt a week early and flew home on his own so he could represent his country,” said mum Maxine.
“He loved every minute of it and hopes to play for England again.
“He had an offer from Warrington Wolves to stay there, and Widnes were interested, but money wasn’t his motivation. He set his heart on a move to rugby union with Sale Sharks.
Liam’s father Bryn played for Great Britain when he was 17.
