GRAHAM Brooks emerged victorious in the Blackley Trophy.
He secured top honours after returning a net total of 343, two clear of runner-up Alan Lane (345), with Julian Robinson (350) back in third place.
The winner is determined by adding together the best net scores in five events over the season — the President’s Cup first round, the second, third and fourth rounds of the captain’s competition, and round one of the Autumn Cup. Brook scored 65, 66, 67, 70 and 75.
THE fifth annual Oldham PVC Trophy for local club captains and officials fell victim to the weather.
The 40-strong party had to head home after torrential rain shut the championship course at Forest of Arden, Coventry.
On day one of the two-day event, holders Saddleworth had given themselves a six-point lead in the team trophy after captain Tim Edwards and vice captain Gary Simpson posted 39 points and past captain John Knight and Harry Long 38 on the Aylesford course.
The best score of the day, 42, came from society members Tony Doidge and David Whaley (Werneth), and their Werneth quartet was 10 points clear for the Society Cup when the storm struck.
