Ellis returns to familiar turf

TONGE stars Gary Ellis and Jimmy Derby carry the local flag in the Champion of Champions tournament at the Waterloo Hotel, Blackpool, tomorrow (10am).
Recent Waterloo Handicap winner Ellis is the 9-4 favourite to land the £1,000 top prize, and Derby is a 12-1 shot.
Ellis opens against Yorkshire’s Thomas Hanson, while Derby plays green specialist Wayne Ditchfield, three-times the Waterloo junior champion.

Tomorrow, ‘A’ Division: New Street v Springbank (9.45am); Failsworth v Nimble Nook (noon); Hopwood v Waterloo and Taunton (2.15pm).
