Halford left to rue late comeback

FOOTBALL: MOSSLEY surrendered a 3-0 lead and eventually had to settle for a 3-3 draw at FC United in the FA Vase first qualifying round.
The sides meet again tomorrow at Seel Park (7.45pm kick-off).
The Lilywhites were in front after 16 minutes thanks to forward Kayde Coppin who was on the scoresheet a second time before the break with a converted penalty.
The out-of-sorts hosts went three down after an hour.
Mossley were pushed back as FC United threw everything forward, and Chris Amadi netted in the 73rd minute. He pounced again five minutes later with a neat backheel. Jerome Wright completed the unlikely comeback with a 25-yard free-kick when just a minute remained.
Halford said: "We played very well and for the first 72 minutes our game plan worked. I think a bit of panic and fatigue set in and their fans roared them on, it was like a steamroller towards the end.
OLDHAM Boro roared to a 3-1 win at Formby, who had previously won all seven of their matches in Vodkat North-West Counties League Division One.
Lee Knowles put Tony Mills' side on the front foot after 12 minutes, and James Curley doubled the advantage with 33 minutes on the clock. Emini Adebenro pulled back a goal for Formby with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining, but Lee Bancroft struck in the 85th minute to seal the victory for Boro.
CHADDERTON went down to a 2-1 defeat at leaders AFC Darwen in NWCL Division One.
Goals from Ryan Steele (22) and Stephen Lee (54) made it an uphill struggle for the visitors, for whom Matty Russell scored with a minute of the contest remaining.
