Reigning champions Oldham overcame a physical New Cambell side at Hathershaw Sports Centre to make it two wins out of two in the Premier League.
The hosts started brightly, with the defence of Georgie Webster, Rachael Taylor and Laura Malcom forcing their opponents from Essex into mistakes.
But Cambell upped their game. Though Oldham finished the quarter 16-12 ahead, New Cambell had the momentum.
The visitors continued to frustrate Oldham, but they worked through a difficult period with some great attacking moves.
The quarter finished 32-25 in Oldham’s favour. Maria McAndrew replaced Henry at wing attack at half-time, Beth Cobden took the wing defence position from Taylor and Helen Housby came on for an impressive debut at goal attack.
The Cumbrian youngster has joined Oldham this season and has a bright future ahead of her.
Oldham seemed to lose concentration in this period, and New Cambell won it by one to narrow the gap to 43-37.
But Oldham put their foot back on the accelerator and started to punish Cambell’s errors.
Oldham travel to Essex this weekend to play Leyton.
