RUGBY:
HOLLINWOOD’S trip to Hunslet Old Boys ‘A’ in Pennine League Division Five could not go ahead after the visitors could only round-up a handful of available players.
Hunslet were awarded an automatic 30-0 victory.
Hollinwood secretary Fred Halliwell said: “It was a disaster. Only a few lads turned up, and one of them was injured. We are very disappointed not to have played the fixture.”
It was the same story for our local sides in the North-West Men’s League.
In Division Two, Oldham St Anne’s could no raise a side at Wigan St Jude’s, who were handed an automatic 24-0 win.
The same applied to Waterhead in their Division Four clash with Folly Lane ‘A’, and Fitton Hill, in their away meeting with Culcheth Eagles in Division Five. In the North-West Counties League, Higginshaw’s home clash with Widnes Moorfield was postponed.
