DEREK Hudson took a good carp and plenty of small fish in his 19lb 2oz catch which won him the latest Cranberry AC match on Bradshaws number three pool.
Fishing long pole and maggot, Derek caught steadily throughout the match to beat organiser Steve Orr into second.
Steve’s return of 13lb included carp and silvers which fell to a 14-and-a-half metre pole, chopped worm and caster.
PETE Cuniffe came out on top in the Medlock Bridge AC open match on the Park Lake.
His long pole and caster approach netted him 10 early chub and later on some decent roach and perch up to eight ounces together weighing in at 14lb 5oz.
Billy Brierley showed just how consistent he is as once again he made the frame, this time runner-up with maggot fished at 13 metres catching him 13lb 14oz of chub, roach and skimmers.
MY nightmare start to the Pennine winter league continued with a dry net in the third round fished on a really poor Huddersfield Narrow Canal at Slaithwaite.
I started off feeding too much as I just didn’t expect the place to fish as poorly as it did.
One ounce got you six points in our section and that was the difference between my Team Trabrucco Halifax winning the day and ending up third.
On the positive side of things my mate Pete Dwyer has come out of fishing retirement and been doing well. Pete caught 3lb 4oz of decent roach - beating the one bream weighing 3lb of John Sedgewick.
The next round is on Sunday on the Castleton lengths of the Rochdale Canal.
TODMORDEN AS has a members only match on Croft on Sunday. To book and for further details, call (01706) 374689 or 07543 883714.
The Todmorden AS seniors Grand Christmas match is on December 9 on Croft and Townhouse fisheries.
Draw up to 9am at the Falcon Hotel, Littleborough; fishing 10am-1pm; presentations from 3pm at the pub. Tickets must be bought in advance.
