Hat-trick helps Hill climb table

ASHLEY Ainsworth’s hat-trick inspired Fitton Hill to a 6-0 victory over FC Royton in Midas Plumbing Oldham Sunday League Jack Abbott Premier Division. The win sent Fitton Hill into fifth spot.
In-form Leyton Stephenson was again on target for Legends, who got the better of Crompton House Old Boys 3-1.
Coppice United ‘A’ enjoyed a 2-1 win at Oddies, courtesy of efforts from Steve Barrow and Danny O’Connell.
Manchester FA Challenge Shield action saw Moss Side Old House enjoy a 3-1 triumph at Limeside King George, while Middleton Colts beat Rifle Range ‘A’ 1-0.
HEYSIDE maintained their good start to the season with a 4-2 win at Cumberworth in Huddersfield and District League Division Two.
The visitors found themselves three goals to the good at the interval courtesy of two from Carl Taylor and one by Jason Leonard.
Cumberworth netted twice in the space of three minutes after the restart, but Taylor completed his hat-trick with 10 minutes remaining to secure victory.
Division One action saw Diggle lose 2-0 at Netherton, while Uppermill won 2-1 at Otley Town in the West Riding Challenge Cup.
In Reserves Division One, Heyside picked up their first points of the season with a 3-1 victory over Netherton.
SPRINGHEAD earned a 3-0 win at Greetland in the West Riding County Cup first round.
The visitors broke the deadlock after an hour, Bennett tucking home a rebound from Stevenson’s shot.
Bennett’s neat finish doubled the lead and Josh Walker capped a comfortable display with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining.
HOLLINWOOD slipped to a narrow 2-1 defeat at Hyde FC reserves in the first round of the Manchester Challenge Trophy.
Hyde, top of the Galaxy West Lancashire League with just one defeat this season, took an early lead.
Jean-Paul Lewis restored parity for the away outfit after half-an-hour, converting a Jamie Saberie corner. The Tameside team clinched victory with an 89th-minute goal.
Hollinwood ‘A’ took on Hollinwood reserves’ fixture in Bridgewater Office Supplies Manchester League Division Three and claimed a 3-3 draw.
Avro won 6-1 at Leigh Athletic in the Gilgryst Cup.
