Down to the wire

After 23 games of blood, sweat and two or three rollickings, Waterhead’s bid for promotion hinges on tomorrow’s finale at Askam.
Victory for the Peach Road outfit would clinch a place in National Conference League Division One next season.
Defeat means they must rely on Dewsbury Celtic, immediately below them in the table, slipping up at local rivals Shaw Cross Sharks.
Waterhead’s fate is in their own hands and if they can repeat Wednesday night’s performance in the 43-12 thumping of Crosfields, promotion will be just reward for their effort.
Joint coach Paul Geener and his assistant Jon Perks won’t be taking anything for granted.
Though fourth-bottom, Cumbria’s Askam are in good nick after a 26-16 win over Eastmoor Dragons last weekend.
Second-rower Niall Bradley is Waterhead’s only injury doubt and will face a late fitness test, but Scott Beswick and prop Matthew Baron return to the ranks.
OLDHAM St Anne’s, relegated from Division One, complete their season with a trip to mid-table Wigan St Jude’s.
