FOOTBALL:

LEADERS Mossley cruised to a 6-0 win at Garforth Town in Evo-Stik League Division One North.

Sam Madeley helped himself to a hat-trick as the hosts failed to deal with the in-form striker.

He put the Lilywhites in front after two minutes following good work from Gary Gee.

Skipper Dave Young soon doubled the lead, expertly nodding in Chris Rowney’s free-kick.

Jay Gorton made it 3-0 after half-an-hour, heading home Rowney’s corner, before Young went off injured, making way for player-manager Steve Halford.

Madeley struck again before the interval following a pinpoint pass from Halford to put Mossley out of sight.

After the interval Kayde Coppin missed a penalty after being fouled by Josh Greenhalgh — who was handed a red card.

Madeley completed his treble with an hour on the clock following a fine pass from Coppin.

Gee’s 80th-minute effort from 18 yards completed the rout for the division's top dogs.

FOOTBALL: CHADDERTON rallied to beat Nelson 4-2 in Vodkat North-West Counties League Division One.

After Wayne Morrison had put the visitors in front early on, 17-year-old Andrew Bainbridge rose to score a thumping header to equalise for Chadderton, following Ryan Fagan’s corner.

Fagan himself netted with half-an-hour on the clock, his long-range drive creeping in at the far post.

Nathan Eagan restored parity for Nelson after 60 minutes, but soon afterwards Sean Nolan pounced on a loose ball on the edge of the area and curled in a fine effort.

And Niall Sultan put the icing on the cake for Paul Buckley’s team with two minutes remaining.

The ball was pumped into the box, the goalkeeper misjudged his punch and Sultan capitalised.

OLDHAM Boro drew 3-3 at home to Northwich Villa in NWCL Division One.

Sean Swift opened the scoring for Villa after 25 minutes, but Will Buckley equalised just before the hour mark.

Prolific forward James Curley put Boro ahead two minutes later, but Lee Garwood (71 and 75) turned the game on its head for Villa.

However, Buckley struck again with 12 minutes remaining to ensure a share of the spoils.
