Springhead in sparkling form

SPRINGHEAD were in prime form in the ‘B’ Division of the Inbev Winter Bowling League, defeating Vixens 10-1 on the Chadderton Cot carpet.
M Harrington was the only winner for the women’s team.
Dogwood and Prestwich also recorded successes, while ‘A’ Division action saw wins for Waterloo and Taunton, Springbank and seven-man Hopwood.
TONGE and Nimble Nook star Gary Ellis’s attempt to win his 18th major individual title of the crown green bowls season was thwarted by Midlands ace Ross Dunkley.
Ellis reached the final of the George Masters in Birmingham, a competition in which he has a great record, but Dunkley prevailed 31-23.
THE Saddleworth Bowls League presentation night takes place on Friday at Lees and Hey Social Club (8pm). Tickets cost £2 on the door.
