Duo go potty in last-frame epic
Date published: 26 October 2012
SNOOKER:
ANDY Stafford, secretary of the Oldham Amateur Snooker League, described the last frame in the match between Blue Club ‘A’ and ‘B’ as the best he had seen in the competition.
It was quality stuff between two teams gunning for title glory.
Blue Club ‘B’ won the first three frames on the night, before Russ White reduced the deficit.
The respective captains had held back their best two players, on paper, for the final frame, Mick Smith for the ‘B’ team and Reece Kershaw for the ‘A’ side.
After a cagey start, Kershaw got into his stride and compiled a break of 73 which put the frame beyond Smith.
But with the aggregate still up for grabs, Smith cleared the table with a break of 48.
It was enough to claim the aggregate by a six-point margin and complete a 4-2 win for his side.
