MOORSIDE are eyeing a trip over the Irish Sea in round one of next season’s LCB Cup.

Hoping to follow Shaw’s lead — they flew to Castletown, Isle of Man in 2007 — Moorside have been drawn away to another IoM side, Ramsey.

“We’re keen to do it,” said skipper Lloyd Kingston, who steered Moorside to third in the Saddleworth and District Cricket League in 2012.

“It’s a good opportunity for us, but obviously a lot things need to be sorted out first.”

If Moorside are unable to travel, Ramsey must try to fulfil the tie here.

The club is likely to have the services of professional Stefan Grobler and overseas amateur Francois Mostert again next year.

The South Africans were consistent performers in their debut seasons in the Saddleworth League.

After producing a string of fine displays, Mostert went into many notebooks as a possible future pro. He was the leading wicket-taker in the amateur ranks with 63 victims. Only Heyside pro Gerrie Snyman, with 65 wickets, bagged more.

In a further boost, useful seamer Glen McFadyean will return in 2013 as the club extends and upgrades changing rooms next to a new electronic scorebox.

The league’s LCB Cup holders Bamford Fieldhouse will play at home to Fleetwood from the Northern League. Uppermill host Whalley (Ribblesdale League); Hollinwood are at home to Northern (Liverpool Competition) and Heyside go to Wythenshawe (Manchester and District Association).
