RUGBY:
CHASING a first win of the season in Pennine League Division Five, Hollinwood meant business from the first whistle at home to Burley Lions.
Alistair Williams gathered the ball from the kick-off and raced away to score. With Matty Holland adding the extras, basement side Hollinwood were on their way to an emphatic 48-6 victory.
From the restart, Holland went over to make it 10-0 and, although Lions responded with a converted try, that was as good as it got for them.
Luke Wrigley recorded Hollinwood’s third try of the afternoon before the break.
The hosts, confident in possession, dominated the second period as they tackled Lions’ much bigger forwards out of the game.
Andy Blair finished a fluent passing move, converted by Holland - which he did again after Pete Jackson crashed over, making the score 26-6.
The win and performance puts Hollinwood in a good mood for the visit of unbeaten leaders Whitkirk Bulldogs on Saturday.
