BAE pair hit the heights
Date published: 30 October 2012
TABLE TENNIS:
ANTHONY Bates and Tony Smith put in unbeaten performances for BAE as they saw off Honeywell 'A' in Division One of the Oldham and District Table Tennis League.
The effort of the pair helped the team to a commanding 8-2 triumph, with two important points arriving in response from David Buckley and Phillip Myers — with both their sets going the full distance.
Unison 'A' split the points with Hollinwood 'B' after a 5-5 stalemate.
Larry Bainbridge put in a big performance to keep Unison in the match, taking all three individual points on offer and nicking the doubles with Allan Auxilly.
Honeywell 'D' continue to set the pace in Division Two thanks to an 8-2 defeat of Droylsden.
Tim Greenald and Ron Mitchell took a point each for bottom-of-the-table Droylsden, but an inspired performance from Steven Collins – who has only lost three sets all season – gave Honeywell their second consecutive victory.
