FOOTBALL:

THE third round of the Midas Plumbing Oldham Sunday League President’s Trophy passed by without any giant-killings.

Limeside King George, currently second in the Jack Abbott Premier Division, eased to a 3-1 win at David Giblin Division One outfit Anglers Arms. Gary Chadderton, Warren Berry and Will Buckley scored for the winners.

It set the tone for the rest of the fixtures, with no side losing to a team from a lower division.

Nathan Eastmond’s hat-trick helped Rifle Range ‘A’ to a crushing 9-1 victory over Limeside Gardeners Rest ‘B’, with James Curley scoring two.

Famous King George ‘A’ defeated Oddies 5-3 thanks in no small part to Ryan Shaughnessy’s double.

On the mark for Oddies were Nathan Dawson with two goals, and Andy Winterbottom.

Chris Connor struck three times as Willow Tavern got the better of Crompton Victoria 5-2.

Two goals apiece from Ryan Hobin and Josh Cass inspired Red Star to a 5-2 home triumph at the expense of Rifle Range ‘B’.

Top-flight league action saw leaders Coppice United ‘A’ waltz to a 7-3 win at Crompton House Old Boys, with Danny O’Connell scoring a hat-trick.

Crompton House’s scorers were Scott Rowbottom, D Toft and Josh Briddon.

Coppice are one point ahead of second-placed Limeside King George, having played the same number of matches.
