Patience pays off for Boro
Date published: 05 November 2012
NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL: OLDHAM Boro earned a comfortable 2-0 win at Daisy Hill in Vodkat North-West Counties League Division One.
Daniel Davies broke the deadlock after 22 minutes. Richmond Botcher and James Curley exchanged a one-two before Botcher's pinpoint cross was met by the head of Davies at the far post.
Boro were in control of this contest throughout and Curley, Lee Knowles and Sam Freakes should all have extended the lead.
As it happened, Boro had to wait until the 79th minute to double the advantage. Will Buckley won a tackle in the heart of midfield and gave the ball to Darren Scanlon.
He fed Buckley, who had continued his run, and the midfield man drew the goalkeeper before lifting the ball over him and into the net.
CHADDERTON’S clash with Formby in NWCL Division One was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
