Club’s six of the best

NETBALL: OLDHAM Netball Club continue to lead their rivals in Premier League One.

Latest to feel the force were a strong Academy outfit, who suffered a 44-29 defeat at Hathershaw Sports Centre.

The visitors packed plenty of ammunition, with former England captain Sonia Mkoloma and fellow international Naida Hutchinson in their line-up. But they were no match for Oldham, who made it six wins out of six with a strong performance in the second half.

The home side continually put the visitors under pressure, and the Middlesex side became increasingly frustrated - so much so that they were penalised on several occasions.

This allowed Oldham to complete a comprehensive victory.

Hallas said: “It was a fantastic result and great to see Emma Dovey return to the form that has seen her get an England call. She was my player of the match.

“I was also pleased with Kathryn Turner, who put in a very mature display and it was great to see Alice Travis back after two months out with injury.”

OLDHAM face a trip to Southampton this weekend to play Blades.
