FAMOUS King George ‘B’ secured arguably the most impressive result of the Midas Plumbing Oldham Sunday League Challenge Cup second round, drawing 3-3 at Springhead Libs ‘A’.
The Division Three underdogs, for whom Scott Dunthorne struck twice and Ash Roberts scored, forced a replay by frustrating their David Giblin Division One opponents.
Chris Riley bagged a brace for the hosts, with Luke Hancock also hitting the target.
Division One leaders Failsworth Athletic also endured a bad day at the office against a side they were expected to beat.
Graham Speakman and Jack Turnbull netted but it was only enough to register a 2-2 draw with Springhead Libs ‘B’, whose goalscorers were Victor Andre and Dave Hodgkins.
Coppice United ‘B’ progressed to the third round courtesy of a 5-3 defeat of Limeside Gardeners Res ‘B’, with Adeel Rangzaib at the double.
Tohseel Zamir, Kamrun Zamir and Hamid Arif did the rest of the damage.
Red Star slumped to a 5-2 reverse at the hands of Legends, whose star man was four-goal Leighton Stephenson.
Chris Pauley put the icing on the cake for Legends.
Darren Longdon’s hat-trick and a Michael McGrath effort helped Summit to a 4-1 triumph over Blue Club.
FC Dynamos made light work of Oldham Tigers in a 7-0 win, L Mack and K Hallas notching a treble apiece and M Ball also getting in on the act.
Elsewhere Bengal Allstars drew 1-1 with Carrion Crow and Fitton Hill defeated Oddies 4-2.
