THE Lake Garage CLL’s individual award winners received their prizes at the annual dinner at Rochdale Cricket Club.
Heywood’s Bobby Cross collected the Sir Frank Worrall Trophy for being the leading amateur runs scorer in 2012 with 916 despite a number of matches being abandoned because of rain.
The Clifford Pickup Trophy for the leading amateur wicket-taker was shared between ex-Crompton spinner Dale Highton (Middleton) and Greg Butterworth (Rochdale) after both claimed 75 victims.
Butterworth also won the Lal Vohra Trophy as the league’s most improved young player, while the Littleborough Sports Trophy for the best all-rounder went to Norden’s Nick Brierley for his 902 runs and 33 wickets behind the stumps.
Rochdale won the Spirit of the Game Trophy judged by the league’s umpires, and the second XI equivalent went to Ashton.
And the President’s Trophy for 2012 was handed to umpire Tom Handrick, who has just completed his 41st season in the CLL.
