FORMER world champion Shaun Murphy visited the Oldham Snooker Academy for an exhibition against local amateur players and youngsters.
Murphy, who landed the world title at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield, in 2005, took on children from Clarksfield Primary School, Oldham Academy North, Vision Youth Group and Oak Community Development.
He also played a frame against Academy players and Dean Smith (Blue Club), who won the inter-league tournmanent which was held to determine one of the snooker star’s opponents.
During the evening, Murphy had the chance to compile a maximum 147 after sinking 15 reds and blacks, only to miss a difficult yellow.
Peter Bennett was the referee for the evening and the frames were marked by another referee, Steve Starkie.
