Santos display signs of recovery

AFTER a four-game losing streak, the last thing Santos needed was a trip to Lancashire and Cheshire League Division One leaders Gorse Hill.
The local outfit showed up well and it was a much-improved display, but it was the high-flyers who emerged victorious by a 3-1 scoreline.
Gorse went ahead in the 20th minute when ’keeper Richard Mason allowed a weak shot creep in at the near post.
Santos were limited to half chances, and they fell further behind after the break with a effort from the edge of the penalty area.
They pulled a goal back with 10 minutes to go when a ball over the top by Jonny Phillips was only parried by the ’keeper and Martin Green was on hand to poke home.
But hopes of salvaging a point were dashed moments later. Joe Crompton was robbed of possession on the half-way line and Gorse broke away to score.
