Owls fight back to gain draw

AS was the case in their most recent clash, Owls ‘B’ and Primrose Bank are locked together at the top of Division Five in the Oldham and District Table Tennis League.
The title rivals drew 5-5, but after half-a-dozen sets Primrose held a 4-2 lead through braces from Wesley Roper and Bright Folashade.
However, Owls responded through Stephen Cocker and Phillip Tamworth to level things up.
An unbeaten Roper took his third set of the night for Primrose, but Owls pair Glen Daubney and Tamworth held their nerve in the doubles.
Pollards ‘C’ recorded their first win of the season with a dominant 9-1 display at St Matthew’s.
Luke Malone claimed the solitary point for the home side, but unbeaten performances from Geoffrey Beard and Gary Kershaw ensured the result was never in doubt.
In Division One, Saddleworth ‘A’ maintained their 100-per-cent start to the season with a 9-1 success at home to Hyde YMCA ‘A’.
David Hamilton averted the whitewash by taking the second set for Hyde.
Saddleworth are nine points behind leaders Glodwick ‘A’.
Honeywell ‘A’, clutching a 5-2 lead, appeared to be heading for their fourth win of the season against Unison ‘A’.
But up stepped Barry Elliott and Larry Bainbridge to bag a set each, before completing the comeback in the doubles.
