Valley return with a bang

AFTER two blank weeks, Tame Valley’s first team returned to action and recorded only their second win of the season in Division Two Central of the North-West Squash League.
The trip to face their St Anne’s counterparts produced a thrilling 3-2 victory.
Club number one Amir Manoucheri registered a fine individual 3-2 win over an experienced opponent, and he was well-supported by Jamie Maddox (3-1) and Jeff Barker (3-0).
Valley seconds made it three wins on the trot when defeating Bury thirds 4-1 thanks to the efforts of Steve Ivell, Mike Donohue — he was returning from a long lay-off — Matt Walsh and Richard Green.
The club’s third team also enjoyed a 4-1 success, with Joan Hesten, Andrew Bailey, Nigel Young and Rod Humphries the successful quartet against Bury fourths.
But Valley fourths were unable to complete a clean sweep for the club as they were beaten 3-2 by Fairways Lodge sixths. Mark Regan and Dave Wilson were the victors.
