Santos slump to defeat
Date published: 23 November 2012
OUT-of-sorts Santos were beaten 2-0 at basement boys Govan Athletic in Lancashire and Cheshire League Division One.
The visitors did start brightly. They created a few half-chances and were quicker to the ball in the opening 10 minutes.
But Santos became sloppy in possession and struggled to create clear-cut opportunities in the final third, with their wingers hitting brick walls.
Goalkeeper Richard Mason kept the away outfit in the contest before the interval, making five excellent saves as Govan took control.
Santos switched to 4-3-3 in the second half, but they produced a flat performance lacking creativity.
The home team broke the deadlock halfway through the second period and doubled their lead with five minutes remaining to send Santos home empty-handed.
