Hot-shot Hopwood on mark
Date published: 23 November 2012
OLDHAM Hulmeians continued this season’s unbeaten sequence with a 2-0 win at Bury GSOB reserves in Lancashire Amateur League Division Two.
Mark Hopwood broke the deadlock after just 17 seconds, latching on to a Nathan Tayo pass, while Steven Delafield and Josh Briddon all went close to doubling the lead.
Skipper Danny Proffitt fed Hopwood in the 65th minute and he made no mistake with the finish, which took a slight deflection off a defender.
Defender Jordan Schofield was Hulmeians’ man-of-the-match.
Elsewhere in Division Two, Chaddertonians reserves were beaten 4-2 at Littleborough Juniors.
Oldham Hulmeians ‘B’ were edged out 4-3 at home by Horwich RMI ‘A’ in Division Seven after some sloppy defending.
