OLDHAM SUNDAY LEAGUE
CROMPTON House Old Boys pulled off a shock 8-3 defeat of Coppice United ‘A’ in the Midas Plumbing Oldham Sunday League Challenge Cup, second-round replay.
The victors — currently bottom of the Jack Abbott Premier Division — were just too good for their opponents, who are top flight leaders and title favourites.
Gareth Hill led the charge, scoring four goals for the hosts, with player-manager Matt Wheelton and Carl Caffrey adding two apiece.
Premier Division Famous King George ‘A’ also progressed after a 3-1 triumph over David Giblin Division One outfit Willow Tavern.
Ian Kearns, Ryan Shuaghnessy and Daniel Jackson did the damage, while Andy Nolan replied with Willow Tavern’s consolation.
And Carrion Crow are through after coming out on top in the battle of the Martin Buckley Division Two teams, seeing off Bengal All-Stars 7-1.
Daniel Fitzhugh’s hat-trick and two goals from Scott Edge put Crow on their way, with Tony Lloyd and Jamie Shaw inflicting the rest of the damage.
Farhad Choudhary hit back for All-Stars.
