Green wraps up victory

MANCHETER LEAGUE
HOLLINWOOD pulled off a fine 3-1 win at Stockport Sports reserves in Bridgewater Office Supplies Manchester League Division One.
Jack Darnborough enjoyed a solid debut and central defensive pairing Jack Hardicre and Adam Fitzgerald were strong throughout.
The visitors went in front after a quarter-of-an-hour when Matt Simpson nodded home Jamie Saberi’s whipped free-kick.
They took their advantage into the half-time break and extended it five minutes after the hour mark.
Reuben Abreu’s corner was headed in by substitute John Paul Lewis to put Hollinwood in the driving seat.
Stockport’s response was swift, pulling back a goal courtesy of an unopposed header at the far post.
But with 10 minutes remaining, Louis Green slotted home from the edge of the penalty area to secure the three points.
Elsewhere in Division One, Chadderton reserves were thumped 4-0 at Pennington.
Royton Town slipped to a 1-0 home reverse at the hands of East Manchester in the Premier Division.
Division Three action saw Hollinwood reserves see off Chapel Town 5-3 and return to the summit.
On the mark were Saul Ashworth, Grant Riley, Anthony Santoro, Jay McGhee and Steven Tierney.
