CHADDERTON and Oldham Boro crashed out in the second round of the Vodkat North-West Counties League Division One Trophy.
Paul Buckley’s Chadderton outfit were on the receiving end of a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Northwich Villa.
They fell behind to Cameron Clarke’s 14th-minute strike and went into the half-time break a goal behind.
The visitors pushed for an equaliser, but Daniel Wright netted for Villa with nine minutes remaining, and Kyle Collins notched a third in the dying seconds.
Boro’s exit came after a 2-0 reverse at league leaders AFC Darwen.
Jonathan Hession got the ball rolling for the hosts after 34 minutes.
And Tony Mills’ men were punished with six minutes of the contest left, Stephen Lee pouncing.
MOSSLEY maintained their six-point lead at the top of Evo-Stik League Division One North courtesy of a 0-0 draw at mid-table Warrington Town.
The Lilywhites could have taken an early lead in the opening moments when Kayde Coppin won the ball and tried to feed Mark Haslam, when the ball was deflected and looped on to a post before bouncing to safety.
Had that landed in the net, this game could have taken a very different route.
As it happened, it was a relatively uninspiring affair, although the hosts had their opportunities to take all three points.
