TABLE TENNIS:
LEADERS Saddleworth ‘B’ have surged clear in Division Three of the Oldham Table Tennis League.
In a top-of-the-table clash, they defeated nearest rivals Grotton ‘A’ 7-3.
It was Saddleworth’s ninth win from as many games thanks to maximums from Craig McNally and Gary Crossley.
Hollinwood climbed to within three points of Grotton after an emphatic 9-1 win at home to Honeywell ‘E’, for whom Ken Dunkerley replied.
Amirul Hussain and Paul Hutchinson were unbeaten for Hollinwood.
In Division One, Unison ‘A’ put in a big performance as they overcame Saddleworth ‘A’ 6-4.
Trailing 4-3, a second point from Barry Elliot and a third for the unbeaten Larry Bainbridge — before the pair completed the comeback in the doubles — clinched Unison only their third victory of the campaign.
It was bad week for Saddleworth, who also lost 7-3 to Hollinwood ‘A’ in a rearranged match.
