Away test for cup holders

CRICKET:

HOLDERS Heyside have been drawn away to Micklehurst in round one of the 2013 Tanner Cup.

Victory over the Castle Lane club would see the six-time winners meet Stayley or Greenfield in the second round.

Last night's draw at the November meeting of the Versasteel Saddleworth and District Cricket League also saw Glodwick, beaten finalists in August, pitted against Austerlands at Warren Lane in round one.

The full draw is -

Round one: Uppermill v Saddleworth; Micklehurst v Heyside; Stayley v Greenfield; Droylsden v Bamford Fieldhouse; Glodwick v Austerlands; Hollinwood v Friarmere. Byes: Moorside, Shaw.

Ties to be played on Saturday, May 18.

Round two: Micklehurst/Heyside v Stayley/Greenfield; Uppermill/Saddleworth v Droylsden/Bamford Fieldhouse; Glodwick/Austerlands v Moorside; Shaw v Hollinwood/Friarmere. Ties to be played on Saturday, June 15.



SADDLEWORTH, who lifted the Twenty20 Trophy the last time the final was played in 2011, go to Friarmere in the opening round of next year's renewal.

The second semi-final in the 2012 competition, between Heyside and Friarmere, has yet to be played after rain caused it to be postponed.

The Saddleworth League hope to play the outstanding last-four tie early on in the season, followed by the final in which Hollinwood have already qualified after they overcame Moorside in a bowl-out.

Round two: Micklehurst v Friarmere/Saddleworth; Heyside/Uppermill v Greenfield; Hollinwood/Glodwick v Droylsden; Shaw/Stayley v Austerlands/Moorside. Ties to be played on Sunday, July 28.

Bamford Fieldhouse have declined to enter the competition.
