Lee has fingers crossed

FOOTBALL: SPRINGHEAD’S third round West Riding County FA Challenge Cup tie at home to Rothwell, succumbed to a late postponement last weekend and will be played tomorrow at Ashfield Crescent (1pm).
The referee declared the pitch unplayable only 20 minutes before the scheduled kick-off at 1pm. Though he put the kick-off back by 30 minutes,the pitch didnt sufficiently thaw and the game was called-off.
The postponement disrupted Springhead’s Manchester League campaign, with manager Lee McAllister’s side on a roll following an unbeaten run of eight matches.
McAllister said: “Last season we went 23 games without defeat and I don’t see why we can’t do it again. It was one section of the pitch that was the problem last weekend but hopefully we can get the go-ahead tomorrow.”
Springhead are without injured duo Mark Ashworth and Rick Massey for the visit of Leeds-based Rothwell.
UPPERMILL, of the Huddersfield and District League, crashed out of the West Riding Challenge Cup after a 3-2 reverse at Stanningley.
