Mossley’s striker crisis

FOOTBALL: PROMOTION hopefuls Mossley have been dealt a double blow in their Evo-Stik League Division One North title bid.

The Lilywhites, four points clear at the top of the table, entertain Cammell Laird tomorrow but are without strikers Sam Hind and Sam Madelely.

Hind is hampered by muscle damage in his knee, while ex-Ashton striker Madelely is nursing injured ankle ligaments.

It leaves player-manager Steve Halford with just one striker, Kayde Coppin.

Attempts to bring in temporary replacements have so far been unsuccessful, though Halford has prospects.

“There is a 50-50 chance we will sign two players before tomorrow’s match. The deals could go either way,” he said.



Oldham Boro play host to Atherton Collieries in Vodkat North-West Counties League Division One tomorrow.

Not that either team will be playing away: both share the ground. Eighth-placed Boro are two points behind their opponents, who are fifth.



CHADDERTON take on Formby at home in NWCL Division One. Paul Buckley’s men occupy ninth position, three places and four points shy of Formby.

Tomorrow’s visitors have played fewer matches - nine - than any team in the division.
