FOOTBALL:
HEYSIDE made it into the quarter-finals of the Huddersfield FA Challenge Cup courtesy of a 1-0 win at Slaithwaite United.
The visitors flew out of the blocks and broke the deadlock with 10 minutes gone through James Leonard with a well-taken effort.
Heyside spurned a number of golden opportunities to put the tie to bed in the second half and, as pitch conditions deteriorated, they were forced into desperate defending in the closing stages to secure safe passage to the last-eight.
Diggle’s trip to Hepworth United in the same competition was postponed due to a waterlogged playing surface.
In Division One, Uppermill suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Honley.
