Springhead’s terrific 10

SPRINGHEAD made it a perfect 10 in Bridgewater Office Supplies Manchester League Premier Division.
Lee McAllister’s side earned their 10th successive victory with a 4-2 success at Manchester Gregorians.
The visitors wasted three chances in the first 10 minutes, Richard Bennett, Josh Walker and Adam Nuttall all going close.
But with a quarter of an hour gone they took the lead, Nuttall showing great composure to convert Dale Jackman’s cross.
The home outfit drew level after half an hour from a well worked set-piece. But on the stroke of half-time Bennett scored with a powerful half-volley from 25 yards.
Gregorians pulled even with 20 minutes left, slotting home a penalty after Mark Ashworth handled in the box.
The contest appeared to be heading for a draw until Bennett struck from close range with five minutes remaining.
And as Gregorians pushed forward in search of a third equaliser, Bennett completed his hat-trick after latching on to Stevenson’s pinpoint through ball.
Elsewhere Avro secured a 2-1 win at Walshaw Sports, while Royton Town versus Old Alts was postponed due to a waterlogged playing surface.
