Mills and bloom for slick Boro

FOOTBALL: OLDHAM Boro thrashed neighbours Chadderton 8-2 in Vodkat North-West Counties League Division One North.
Damien Schofield opened the scoring with five minutes on the clock and Lee Knowles made it 2-0 soon afterwards.
Two Darren Scanlon strikes (16 and 32) sandwiched a goal from Chadderton’s Sean Sherwood and put the visitors out of sight.
Sherwood hit the target again but Joe Heap’s effort secured a 5-2 half-time lead.
Scanlon completed his hat-trick shortly after the restart and Heap netted again with an hour gone.
Daniel Lafferty’s 86th-minute put the icing on the cake for Boro, who jumped to sixth in the table, three places ahead of their shell-shocked rivals.
Boro boss Tony Mills went into the game stating defeat was something that didn’t even cross his mind on derby day — and he didn’t have to eat his words along with the left-over turkey.
IN Evo-Stik League Division One North, Mossley’s clash with Curzon Ashton was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
