Curley dilemma

FOOTBALL: OLDHAM Boro boss Tony Mills has warned top goalscorer James Curley he faces a struggle to regain his place against Cheadle tomorrow in Vodkat North-West Counties League Division One.
Curley served a one-match ban as his team-mates roared to a stunning 8-2 win at Chadderton in a derby demolition on Boxing Day.
Despite being available to return to the line-up, Curley is far from certain to be handed a starting berth as sixth-placed Boro entertain a side one place and two points better off.
Sam Freakes and Danny Pearson can play after missing the derby because of work. Danny Davis had other commitments but also returns.
Mills said: “James is so often the talisman — but how can you tinker much after an 8-2 win against your biggest rivals?
“Everyone has to earn the right and the lads who did play sent out a huge message against Chadderton.”
MOSSLEY hope to beat the bad weather tomorrow as they hit the road to Clitheroe in Evo-Stik League Division One North.
Steve Halford’s league-leaders saw the Boxing Day showdown with rivals Curzon Ashton postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
The Lilywhites are four points clear at the top of the table. Clitheroe are fourth, seven points adrift.
CHADDERTON hope to recover from that Boro thrashing by winning another local clash at Rochdale Town.
Paul Buckley’s side dropped to ninth in the table — two points ahead of tomorrow’s opponents with a game in hand.
