FOOTBALL:
MOSSLEY paid the price for a nightmare first half as they went down to a 4-0 home defeat at the hands of neighbours New Mills in Evo-Stik League Division One North.
The leaders were a goal after eight minutes, Daryl Weston the scorer.
Daniel Grimshaw increased the Millers' lead four minutes later, and Christopher Lusby's effort half-an-hour in gave Steve Halford's shellshocked hosts a mountain to climb.
Lusby compounded their misery by grabbing his second goal with 24 minutes left.
One silver lining for Mossley was the return from a knee injury of striker Sam Hind, who replaced Connor Loftus as a 56th-minute substitute after two months on the sidelines.
Halford's men remain four points clear of second-placed Skelmersdale United.
