RUGBY:
EMERSON Jackman won’t be short of experience - on and off the field - when the 2013 National Conference League season gets under way in March.
The Saddleworth Rangers coach will have three allies in Paul Ashton, Michael Coates and Craig Farrimond.
As well as offering advice from the sidelines and midweek training sessions, Coates and Farrimond may play their part on the pitch.
Ashton, who guided Oldham RL to the Under-23s Championship grand final last season, will be Jackman’s assistant.
“I’ve known Paul a long time and he’ll be a good asset,” said Jackman.
Chief play-maker Coates missed all but five minutes of the 2012 season after breaking his foot.
His knowhow will be of benefit to Jackman as the latter attempts to steady the side following their bottom of the table finish in the NCL top-flight last season.
Former Oldham RL and Blackpool Panthers man Farrimond has the task of improving the squad’s fitness.
“They are all going to be a big help and I’m delighted they are on board,” said Jackman
