Angling:

A LATE run of fish saw Pete Cuniffe scoop the Medlock Bridge AC open on the Park Lake.

He included a chub and half-a-dozen decent roach on pole and maggot for 4lb 10oz.

Organiser Darren Webb was second, with maggot tempting a 1lb chub and two good skimmers for 4lb 5oz.

Medlock are running an open match on the Park Lake tomorrow. The draw is at 11am. Fishing noon to 4pm. Details 07753 414838.



DAVE Holland is flying at Sycamore Fisheries, with regular pick ups over the last two months.

The Tri-Cast Highfield rod enhanced his cracking record after another win in the latest open event.

Using pole and maggot at eight, 11 and 14 metres, he attracted 11lb 8oz of silvers and a couple of carp which at 2lb, made all the difference.



A FIELD of 40 anglers, including former England international Alan McAtee and some from Bolton and Yorkshire, lined the banks in an open match on the Boarshaw and Scowcroft lengths of the Rochdale Canal.

The venue fished reasonbly well as there were no dry nets. The winner, Paul McMillan of Maver NW, employed pellet and caster three-quarters across at 10 metres for 8lb 13oz of skimmers.

John Irving (Complete Tackle Colne) used chopped worm and caster for skimmers and roach which together added up to 7lb 8oz.

TODMORDEN AS is staging a four-match series of pairs matches on the Rochdale Canal.

MONARCH AC are holding a members joining night next Wednesday at the Duke pub in Royton.

Old keys must be handed in. Failure to do so will incur a £2 levy. Names of prospective new members to taken on the night.
