Boro facing points penalty

FOOTBALL:
OLDHAM Boro have been dealt a blow ahead of tomorrow’s Vodkat North-West Counties League Division One clash with Abbey Hey.
Boss Tony Mills revealed the club is likely to lose three points after a paperwork mix-up over Tom Hughes’ switch from Chadderton.
Hughes made his Boro debut on October 27, but NWCL can’t find a fax confirmation of his registration, and could take three points away in the coming weeks.
Mills said: “We expect them to dock points, which is a shame but we just have to get on with it.
“There was a mix-up. We believe everything was done correctly and on time, but there is no evidence of the fax confirmation regarding Tom’s inclusion for the match.”
Sixth-placed Boro go into this weekend’s fixture with a clean bill of health and are looking to overcome a side who are third in the table.
“We are flying at the moment,” added Mills. “Everyone is competing for a place in the side, and the aim is to go as long as we can without defeat.”
MID-TABLE Chadderton will be confident of narrowing the gap on those above them when they host strugglers Daisy Hill in NWCL Division One tomorrow.
The visitors have picked up just 13 points from 18 outings this term.
SAM Madeley is moving closer to his first start for leaders Mossley in more than two months as the Lilywhites go to Trafford in Evo-Stik League Division One North tomorrow.
Madeley came off the bench in the midweek victory over Ashton United in the Manchester FA Premier Cup quarter-finals and got another 30 minutes under his belt.
The striker is building up his fitness following a spell on the sidelines with ankle ligament
damage.
Player-manager Steve Halford expects a difficult test. He said: “It is important to pick up as many points as we can in this period, with Skelmersdale breathing down our necks in second place.”
