FOOTBALL: MOSSLEY'S lead at the top of the Evo-Stik League Division One North table was cut to three points after a 2-0 defeat at Trafford.

It was the Lilywhites’ first league loss away this season.

Trafford rose to second spot as a result - and have three games in hand.

Target man Michael Oates opened the scoring with a quarter-of-an-hour on the clock, and doubled the lead after the half-hour mark.

The hosts threw everything forward in the second period. Strikers Sam Hind and Sam Madeley both entered the fray as half-time substitutes, but Halford's men were unable to force their way back into the contest.

::Mossley have been drawn at home to Maine Road in the semi-finals of the Manchester FA Premier Cup on Tuesday, February 12 (7.45pm kick-off).

Salford City entertain Droylsden in the other last-four clash.

CHADDERTON enjoyed a 3-1 victory over Daisy Hill in Vodkat North-West Counties League Division One.
Paul Buckley's men flew out of the blocks and were 2-0 up after 10 minutes.

Karl Valentine latched on to a backpass which fell short, and calmly slotted the ball into an empty net with seven minutes gone.

And almost immediately Nathan Bourne highlighted the home side's supremacy.

With the visiting defence busy appealing for offside, he raced through and fired a shot into the corner of the net.

Daisy Hill almost responded but Chadderton goalkeeper Steven Mellor tipped Jack Burke's effort around the post.

Kane Duffy gave Chadderton a few jitters with an 88th-minute goal at the back post.

But Russell ensured the victory went to Buckley's men, firing in after more neat work by Bourne.

Chadderton remain in ninth position.

OLDHAM Boro were held to a 0-0 draw by promotion hopefuls Abbey Hey.
The stalemate saw Tony Mills' side drop to seventh place in the table.
