DAVE Walker strikes for Waterloo in the match against Hopwood
BOWLS:
WATERLOO and Taunton clinched the ‘A’ Division title in the Inbev Winter Bowling League on Chadderton Cot’s artificial surface with an 8-3 verdict over Hopwood.
David Walker hit back from 14-6 down to beat promising teenager Tom Eccles 21-15, but the stand-out display came from Peter Fielding who saw off Andrew Eames 21-7.
Lee Turner clinched the’A’ Division merit prize with a 21-10 victory over Billy Pearson, and Chris Heyes made it 14 wins from as many matches thanks to a 21-11 defeat of Alan Eccles.
Nimble Nook defeated fellow strugglers Failsworth 8-3, while Springbank overcame New Street 7-4.
Action in the ‘B’ Division saw wins for champions Springhead, Vixens and Dogwood.
FRIEZLAND BC’s annual meeting will be held at the club on Friday (8pm). Existing and new members are welcome.
