ROYTON CC’S bid for promotion to the Premier Division of the Lake Garage CLL will be spearheaded by hard-hitting Australian left-hander Ben Dunk.
Nicknamed “Slam” - as in slam dunk - the 25 year old shone for Sydney Thunder during the recently- televised Big Bash Twenty20 competition in Australia.
Described as a “free-swinging left-hander”, Dunk also represents Tasmania in Sheffield Shield cricket.
Originally a product of the famous Northern Suburbs CC in Brisbane, Dunk enjoyed a terrific junior career which earned him a contract with the Queensland Bulls for whom he racked up some solid scores.
Dunk has been most productive in one-day cricket; he averages 31 in 50-overs cricket.
Dunk joins other new Royton signings Ryan Carruthers and Chris Hutchinson, both of whom return after two years away from The Paddock ground.
