Gilders miss chance to break duck

TABLE TENNIS: GILDERS Tackle await their first win of the season in Division Three of the Oldham and District Table Tennis League — but it isn’t for the want of trying.
They came agonisingly close to breaking their duck at Coldhurst ‘B’, who registered a narrow 6-4 win.
An early double from Malcolm Wills put the home side 3-1 ahead, but Gilders replied through Mark Craven and Martin Nicholls.
The pair battled through five games each to level with four sets remaining.
But a set apiece for Darren Brown, Neil England and the undefeated Wills sealed victory for Coldhurst.
Craven and Nicholls took a fourth point for Gilders in the doubles.
In Division One, Werneth ‘A’ kept their nine-point cushion over Hollinwood intact after the two sides drew 5-5.
Honeywell ‘B’ snatched their fourth win with a 7-3 success at Unison ‘A’.
In Division Two. Honeywell ‘C’ failed to win a second successive league match — their worst run of form all season — after drawing 5-5 with Uppermill ‘A’.
Coldhurst ‘D’ recorded their first win of 2013 with an 8-2 victory at home to Honeywell ‘F’ in Division Four.
