Higgy hold off Bulldogs to progress

Fitton Hill Bulldogs player Carl Malloy is tackled by Mark Ward and Ryan O'Donnell, of Higginshaw.
RUGBY: HIGGINSHAW saw off the challenge of neighbours Fitton Hill Bulldogs to earn a 20-10 victory and a place in the semi-finals of the Standard Cup.
Higgy flew out of the blocks and within two minutes Chris Yarwood had crossed, with Ryan O’Donnell converting.
Fitton Hill responded well and were only denied by the sterling work of Michael Smith, Stuart Barrie, Sean Stubbs and Paul Turner in defence.
Bulldogs never stopped and went close with some good attacking rugby, but their task was made even harder when O’Donnell fed Jordan Hanley, who forced his way through.
Bulldogs notched a well-deserved consolation try and conversion late on after more good work from the hooker.
