Honours even for Hollinwood

RUGBY: HOLLINWOOD, who have so often struggled this season to name a full contingent of players for away trips, were matched by Meltham All Blacks’ squad of 14 for this Pennine League Division Five clash.
And the visitors from Fields New Road returned from over the tops with a share of the spoils in a 10-10 draw.
Hollinwood drew first blood with a try from Alistair Williams, but it was Meltham who had nosed in front at half-time courtesy of a converted effort.
Andy Gorey kicked a penalty to restore parity and as the pitch cut up, both sides found it difficult to control the ball.
Liam Parker, Tom Jeffery and Williams worked hard for Hollinwood, who are now setting their sights on bagging maximum points at Croft Cougars on Saturday.
TITLE hopefuls Higginshaw suffered a double setback in the build-up to their trip to Blackbrook in the North-West Counties League.
Coach Mark Jewitt stepped down for personal reasons - and the team fielded a weakened side due to work commitments. The result was a 38-0 defeat.
Jewitt’s successor will be announced this weekend.
