FOOTBALL: UPPERMILL roared to a 5-2 home win at the expense of Moldgreen in Huddersfield and District League Division One.

Second-placed Uppermill piled the pressure on their opponents by making use of both flanks.

Jimmy Ollerenshaw got the ball rolling with a goal from close-range, prodding home to the delight of the Greenfield Paper Mill contingent.

It was soon 2-0 to Simon Tait’s side, Gareth Chew getting on the end of one of those teasing Jackson crosses.

And they were on cloud nine soon afterwards when a fine team move was capped by Ollerenshaw’s second effort of the game.

The visitors, who had hardly ventured into the final third, pulled back a goal from a corner after some poor marking.

And they gave themselves a real lifeline before the break with an excellent counter-attack strike.

But with an hour gone Ollerenshaw completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot.

And near the end Chew put the icing on the cake with an impressive header, to make it 10 league wins out of 10 for Uppermill.

OLDHAM Hulmeians moved joint top of Lancashire Amateur League Division Two thanks to a 3-1 home victory over Old Blackburnians reserves.
The Maroons are level on points with Blackrod, but boast three games in hand.

Manager Geoff Howard said: “We are in a great position now and the title is definitely within our reach, but we must maintain the focus and concentration."
