FOOTBALL: OLDHAM Hulmeians kept their title bid on track with a 5-1 win at Old Blackburnians reserves in Lancashire Amateur League Division Two.
The visitors drew first blood after 24 minutes when defender Josh Briddon headed home Steven Delafield’s corner.
The half-hour mark brought a second goal, Jordan Schofield driving at the defence before smashing in from 20 yards.
Before the break the Maroons struck again when skipper Danny Proffitt fed Schofield, who grabbed his second goal of the game inside the box.
Old Blackburnians gave themselves a lifeline 15 minutes after the restart courtesy of a superb 35-yard strike.
But Hulmeians hit back in the 65th minute through an eye-catching solo effort from Danny Pauley.
Proffitt put the icing on the cake late on, latching on to Alex Shepherd’s through ball to slot home his eighth goal of the campaign.
