Bancroft seals a big win for Boro

That will be the message from Oldham Boro manager Tony Mills in the dressing room before tonight’s North-West Counties League Division One clash at home to Nelson (7.45pm).
Mid-table Boro produced one of their best performances of the season so far to defeat leaders AFC Darwen 2-0 on Saturday.
Andy Smith put the visitors in front after half-an-hour and Lee Bancroft added a second in the 66th minute to secure a superb victory.
Boro’s challenge now is to follow-up against a side four places below them in the table in 12th.
A LATE, late effort from Matthew Pownall rescued a deserved point for CHADDERTON in NWCL Division One.
An own goal from John Rodgers, who sliced the ball past his own ’keeper, handed hosts Rochdale Town a 38th-minute lead, and all seemed lost for Paul Buckley’s men as the match edged towards the closing few minutes. But Pownall struck in the 89th minute to secure a deserved 1-1 draw for the Broadway outfit.
MOSSLEY were thwarted by the weather in Evo-Stik League Division One North.
Steve Halford’s side were due to play Cammell Laird at Seel Park, but the fixture was postponed because of a frozen pitch. A new date for the game will be announced shortly.
The Lilywhites, who have recently slipped from top spot, were looking to hit back following a 3-0 derby defeat at Curzon Ashton last Tuesday.
